US Cardinal, Robert Francis Prevost emerges Catholic new Pope

Redemption and hope have stretched overly among Catholic congregants globally as the Vatican has unvieled a new pope.

Officially, the Catholic new elected pope is Pope Leo XIV. Identified biologically as Robert Francis Prevost, the US Cardinals was elected on Thursday, 8th May 2025, after a well propelled Vatican internal election.

This came shortly after the death of Pope Francis. In line with a possible replacement, Robert was elected the new Pope and unvieled via media spread through the Vatican sources.

69 year old Robert will be the 267th known pope following his triumph to the throne. Also, he is identified as the first American to fill the role of Pope, making history.

Robert was born in Chicago in 1955 to a  Spanish and Franco-Italian descent in Chicago. Growing up, he served as an altar boy and was ordained a priest in 1982.

His first speech as the new Pope reflects on appreciation and urge to continue the work of the Lord as Pope Francis’ successor.

“We still hear in our ears the weak but always courageous voice of Pope Francis who blessed us,” he said.

“United and hand in hand with God, let us advance together,” he told cheering crowds.

Since his election, Catholic congregants globally have resorted to celebrations and massive reactions.
