The legendary Nigerian singer, Innocent Idibia alias 2Baba, has lent his voice to the ongoing debate in the country about the academic system that seems to have lost touch with the current reality.
The singer calls for a total overhaul and reform of the educational system, not only in Nigeria but in Africa at large.
This follows the reports about the mass failure recorded in the just concluded 2025 Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination, in which the board reported that over 1.5 million candidates who sat for the exam scored below 200, which is the minimum requirement for most professional courses in the University.
The African Queen crooner took to his Instagram handle and wrote, “We need to change our entries educational system in Nigeria/ Alkebulan/Africa.”
His comment further ignited the debate, which had already been ongoing since the day JAMB released the results of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) had reported that out of the 1,955,069 candidates who sat for the examination across Nigeria, more than 1.5 million scored below 200, representing over 76% of the total candidates.
