Serving term most times inquire incredible approach to life whereby one’s freedom is procured mostly for their supposed crimes and sentences.
While punishable crimes are structured this way, Vincent Simmons was punished wrongly by the law after he served a whopping number of 44 years for the crime he never committed.
In recent days, the former inmate was declared an innocent despite serving a tally of 44 years in prison for an alleged rape accusation.
Decades ago, Vincent was accused of rape by two identical twins, Sharon and Karen Sanders, which would eventually resort to his 100-year imprisonment sentence. Decades later, he would be declared innocent, living his life shattered. Per several reports, Vincent came home to a broken and empty home with all his family members pronounced deceased.

Before the peak toll of the situation, the identical twins revealed that on 22nd May 1977, a black man asked them for a ride and raped them on a desolated road weeks earlier. Without hesitation, 25-year-old Vincent was picked from the street and detained the next day.
Even at the peak of his trials and judgment, Vincent remained vocally attatched to his utterances, debunking all the allegations.
“No, no, never, I didn’t rape, Karen and Sharon Sanders, I don’t know these people,” freed Vincent recalls.
The above clarification, however, couldn’t help as Karen and Sharon are still vocal about their allegations even at the point of Vincent’s freedom; both have refused to tender an apology as of the time of reporting this article.
Reverting to the days of the disturbing situation, Karen and Sharon were asked to identify among suspected profiles, and they non hesitantly chose Vincent. To date, the two still claim they had no second thoughts.

“When I saw him in the lineup, I didn’t have to think twice. When I looked at him, I knew him.” One of the twin highlights
Meanwhile, Vincent had disclosed to the Police he knew nothing about the women, and surprisingly, the only evidence against him was the testimony against the victims, probably the twins.
From Vincent confession, he was forced to sign a paper admitting that he raped two white girls.
“I’m sitting on the chair in handcuffs. When he gets through, he says, “I want you to sign that”
“I said, “What is that?”
“He said this is a confession saying that you committed this crime,”
“I said what crime? You know, he said, “Raping those two white girls.” I said, “I don’t even know these white girls,” Vincent recalls

Vincent was found guilty of attempted aggravated rape and was sentenced to 100 years in prison. In the line of his term, Vincent was determined to prove his innocence.
This never came to life until 2020 when Justin Bonus, a lawyer from Brooklyn New York, joined Vincent’s defense. He would be offered a new trial where he triumphed and became free, coming out as a 70-year-old falsely sentenced inmate.
In the other view, Karen and Sharon Sanders accepted the jury’s final decision but expressed concern over the anxiety and depression they still suffer about the alleged rape. Meanwhile, when asked if he is mad at the twin, Vincent astonishingly bidded forgiveness as his only core.
This has gone down to become one of the most explored rape cases, which turned out to be disastrous and breached with injustice linked to Racist system.
