The South African music sensation Tyla is set to break records and make history by being the first African to host the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, which will be held on June 21 at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.
The event organisers unveiled the nominees for the 2025 edition, including the host, on Thursday.
The Water crooner is not only going to play host at the event, but she also doubles as a nominee for two categories, which are Favourite Global Music Star and Favourite Music Collaboration for ‘Show Me Love’ with WizTheMc, and bees & honey.
Other nominees that secured spots in the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards include Kendrick Lamar, Ariana Grande, and Lady Gaga led the nominees with four nods each, followed by Dwayne Johnson, Selena Gomez, Jelly Roll, and Jack Black, with three nominations each.
Tyla, being overwhelmed by the latest milestone she’s about to achieve, took to her X on Thursday to announce to express her joy; she wrote, “I’m really about to host the kids’ choice awards.”
The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards ceremony had its first virtual host in 2024, which was pioneered by the eponymous character and Patrick Star, Tom Kenny and Bill Fagerbakke
The event, this year, will be aired live on June 21, 2025, from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, United States of America.
