American rapper Tory Lanez, who is serving a 10-year jail term for allegedly shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020, was stabbed 14 times by his fellow inmate at the California Correctional Institution on Monday, 12th May 2025.
Following the controversy that surrounds his survival, Tory Lanez’s father, Sonstar Peterson, has revealed that the singer is positively responding to treatment and that he’s already recovering.
Tory Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, was sent to prison in December 2022 after being found guilty of shooting fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion in 2020. The 32-year-old singer, whose legal team has been fighting “tooth and nail” to secure his bail before inmates stabbed him, is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital outside the California Correctional Institution.
Lanez’s father, speaking about his current health status, on May 13, said that medical professionals had already removed “the tubes that were draining the fluids from his lungs,” adding that “they took them out because they said he is recovering remarkably.”All that is left is healing from the wounds,” Lanez’s father said.
In December 2022, Lanez was convicted of shooting a Grammy-winning rapper following an argument in the Hollywood Hills in July 2020. The Canadian singer-songwriter, who maintained his innocence by pleading not guilty to all charges before the trial, faced accusations that included discharging a firearm with gross negligence, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in his vehicle.
