The organisers of the BET Awards have released the list of the 2025 nominees, with a plethora of Nigerian singers securing their spots in the upcoming June 9th ceremony, which will be held at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.
Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, Tems, Rema, and Shallipopi are among the quintet of Nigerian Afrobeats stars who bagged nominations in the 2025 BET Awards.
Ayra Starr shines with three incredible award nominations, including Best New Artist, Best International Act, and Best Female R&B/Pop Artist. Tems garnered two nominations in the BET Her category for her inspiring songs “Burning” and “Hold On.”
While Burna Boy, Rema and Shallipopi bagged one nomination each. Burna Boy received a nomination for Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, Rema was recognised as a nominee for Best International Act, and Shallipopi was acknowledged with a nomination for Best New International Act, respectively.
American rapper Kendrick Lamar tops the nominations for the 2025 BET Awards with an impressive ten nods, closely trailed by Drake, Future, Doechii, and GloRilla, who each received six nominations.
